What are your thoughts on black and white photographs? I did a little colour vs. black & white post a while ago and it seems the vast majority of people prefer colour. I mean, colour is vibrant, lively, and generally awesome so I can understand why! Though, there’s something about the simplicity of a black and white image that is so beautiful. The lack of colour gives way to alluring depth and contrast, and without colour the subjects can’t help but be the focus of the image. There’s also a ‘moodiness’ and a feeling to them that is quite something. I started photography on black and white film, developing my… Keep Reading
Baby Jacob’s First Photo Session
This li’l guy is just over a month old, but he’s so expressive you’d think he was already 2 years old! Check out the photos for yourself – He’s so expressive and has such personality. He was so relaxed and followed my camera with his eyes almost the entire session. What a curious cutie.
‘Dream Big’ – Jonathan Carroll
Very honoured to have photographed Jonathan Carroll – former voice and partner of iTravel 2000 and now head of Travel Nation Canada and PCtravel.ca – for PAX magazine / PAXnews.com. I love Carroll’s perspective, turning what many would call a ‘challenge’ into an ‘opportunity’. ‘Dream Big’, he says. Humber Bay Park Engagement Session
Humber Bay Park Engagement Session It was a super windy, cool day, but my goodness did I feel the warm love! Every time I think about this engagement session I picture Denise’s bright, life-filled smile and her sheer joy being in the presence of her doting fiance Mark. It‘s as though there were magnets pulling these two close to each other – they were embracing or holding hands the entire time. It was just the sweetest. These two have been in a long distance relationship for – get this – 9 years! She’s been here in Toronto and him in Georgia. (The picture with the little maps with hearts on… Keep Reading
Fall Family Shoot!
Evelyn and Tasso are two sweet, kind, warm souls who I’ve always known to be so positive, optimistic and good-natured. When they asked me to photograph their family I was thrilled! It had been a while since I’d seen them and my little cousins, and I was excited about spending time with them. Their kids Theo and Andreas are so sweet! Theo was a fantastic role model big brother who was totally no-fuss and so excellent in front of the camera, and Andreas was an energetic, spunky fireball of silly who made me laugh the entire time. I told them their session was totally easy peasy since their super big… Keep Reading
Newborn Josiah Liam
Ah, Josiah. Baby to two of the sweetest parents you’ll ever meet, Chantelle and Joel. I had the pleasure of photographing those two back when they were engaged, and it was absolutely amazing to see them again – with a new life they’d created! I can’t tell you how cool I think that is. During our session baby Josiah was ever-so-curious, eyes wide and scanning the entire environment around him. So no sleepy shots for this curious fellow. (His eyes are beautiful, though, so that wasn’t a problem, and I got to witness his developing personality.) What was really amazing was that if you called him, he looked *directly* at… Keep Reading
Featured! 3 times last week!
Hiya folks! My, was it an exciting week last week – I was so incredibly honoured to have my photos featured by 3 wonderful blogs! I was really thrilled, but I have to say, my work is so inspired by the amazing souls who place their trust in me to photograph their milestones. Shelley & Dave, Laura & Zach, Fidan & Designed Dream – these features are as much yours as they are mine. Yes, I might see and capture things in a certain way, but so much of what I photograph is the beauty, life, love and hard work of those who invite me in to come and snap… Keep Reading
Laura & Zach – Engaged & Exploring Kensington Market!
Before this engagement session, Laura and Zach made it very clear a number of times that they are INCREDIBLY camera shy and that they really don’t think they look good in photos. (I disagree!) I told them that part of my job is helping folks feel comfortable, and that I’m a non-judgemental person who’s honestly there to celebrate these happy moments with them, and the camera is part of that but nothing to be shy about! That they’d feel more comfortable as we went along. They chose Kensington market because they wanted there to be scenery around them that sort of took away from the attention on them – broke… Keep Reading
Samantha & Darren – Engaged!
Samantha and Darren actually met 20 years ago (!!) way back in grade 7, then they went to high school together. Darren apparently had a thing for Samantha but she wasn’t ever ‘available’… Then, years later, they ran into each other and sparks flew. They’ve been inseparable ever since. What a beautiful day it was when we did this engagement session, totally mirroring the full, open love these two share. I couldn’t help but smile as I witnessed how totally into each other they are – and how much they love their fur-baby Froggy! Froggy was a rescue puppy who was originally often caged and used just for racing, and they… Keep Reading
Kashfia & Arber – Married! 04.19.2014
How can I describe to you just how beautiful the love between these two wonderful human beings is? Let’s start with how sweet they are individually – they are each so kind-hearted, caring, and considerate of others… multiply that by a lot between the two of them and you have an inspiringly supportive and nurturing couple. It’s amazing how they look at each other, and how attentive they are to one another. You can instantly tell these two have a solid bond. In my initial meeting with the two of them I was so touched to see the care with which they each explained their ideas for their wedding –… Keep Reading
