Donna and Rob are the sweetest. Their enthusiasm and fun-loving sensibilities were immediately apparent when we first started talking — The first photo they sent me of what they look like was of them wearing a huge curly wig, making silly faces. They also sent a photo of them with matching sweaters saying “and sometimes we go out of our way to coordinate outfits for instagram ” — They were so funny! Leading up to their engagement session I could already feel their excitement about our shoot through their emails and Snapchat posts (add OlivePhotoTO on Snapchat for frequent behind the scenes posts!). The day before their e-sesh Rob emailed with “So stoked… Keep Reading
Toronto Proposal Photography – Andy & Viv
On a recent evening my phone started to ring – the call display said the number was from the US. I picked up, and learned of the sweetest thing! Andy and Viv have a long distance relationship – both living in different states currently. Originally both from California, she moved to New York to be a real estate lawyer and he tours around being a dentist for the military. They were planning a trip through Asia, and they had a one-day layover in Toronto. Andy wanted to propose on that layover day, and he wanted a photographer to document the happy occasion. Guys, I was SO excited. I can’t even… Keep Reading
Toronto Engagement Photography – Andree & Katherine
Andree got in touch with me shortly after he and Katherine got engaged with a very unique story. They live countries apart (he in Toronto, her in Texas), and they met each other at a religious retreat a couple of years ago. But then they didn’t talk for about 2 years. As time passed, they were on each other’s minds and they rekindled their connection online. Now, this may sound like a common enough story, but here’s where it’s quite different: As they spoke, they realized very quickly that their shared views and life goals were enough for them to seal the deal. He bought a ring. She didn’t know. But,… Keep Reading

‘The Day After’ – Styled Shoot
You spend so much time planning your wedding, but what happens the Day After your wedding? When the festivities are over, you get to wake up next to your life partner, and savour the new reality. Sleeping in, enjoying some leftover cake with breakfast, and lots of cozy cuddling. This styled shoot was quite a spur-of-the-moment decision this Winter and I worked with some phenomenal Toronto vendors to get it together within a month. Though it was cold out, we styled this shoot with the nearly-approaching Spring in mind.Because, just as Spring is a beautiful new start after Winter, the day after your wedding is the start of a new journey together…. 5 Helpful Engagement Session Tips
I get asked this question all the time – What makes a good engagement session? Since I’ve found myself e-mailing responses to this question so often, I thought I’d put together a quick little guide. For me, it’s actually super simple. There are 5 Helpful Tips that really do make a *huge* difference in the results of your photos. TIP #1 – LIGHT The definition of ‘photography’ literally translates from Greek to drawing with light. (Photo=Light, Graphy=Drawing) Light is a huge component of what makes a good photograph. For engagement sessions, many people love the warm glow they sometimes see in photographs, often with sun beams coming into the shot. The best time to… Keep Reading
Toronto Winter Engagement Session – Denis & Ada
He proposed during a trip to Quebec City. He kept the ring in his sock, waiting for JUST the right time. He had a spot in mind, but there were too many people around and he wanted the moment to be kept between just them two. She thought he was going to wait until their trip to Albania a little later in the year. She wondered why the heck he had to tie his shoes so many times on their walk. She didn’t see it coming. He wasn’t actually tying his shoes. He was checking that the ring was still there. When the spot and moment were just right, he… Keep Reading
Marie Curtis Park Engagement – Chantalle & Dominic
I met Chantalle and Dominic at a wedding – They were manning their super cool vintage-themed photobooth and I clicked with their totally laid back, friendly, fun-loving personalities instantly. When we parted ways after that wedding I had hoped to see them again. Then surprisingly, at an intimate wedding show, they had a booth across the room from mine. We visited each other and, now, I’m super excited that I get to see them even more since I’ll be photographing their wedding. Universe, thanks for bringing us together those two times! (It felt like one of those, ‘do you believe in love at first sight or do I have to… Keep Reading
Toronto Waterfront Engagement Photos – Josh & Caitlin
Toronto Waterfront Engagement Photos – Tommy Thompson Park They couldn’t have picked a more perfect day. The November sun was the most amazing warm glow! They wanted to re-visit the spot where they had gotten engaged – an area of the city I had never been to, but had always been curious about: Tommy Thompson Park. It’s the start of Leslie St (Literally 1 Leslie Street), and there’s just a *lot* of open natural space, along with a lovely waterfront. Josh kiteboards and that’s how he found the area – always in search of scenic spots to catch some waves. Well, I felt super honoured to be taken back to their special… Keep Reading
