Hotel X Wedding | Caroline & JP
Sometimes grandmas know best. Yes, Caroline & JP were set up by their grandmothers!
“We were set up by our grandmothers…
I was living and teaching in Vancouver, and came home for a long weekend in November 2014 and went with my grandmother to her church bizarre. JP’s grandmother was there and she asked me if I was single and when I said yes, she said I had to meet her grandson and went on about how special he is. Since I was going back to Vancouver that weekend, it didn’t end up working out for JP and I to meet up until I came home for March Break (March 2015). We met at Starbucks for a coffee and hit it off! We continued texted while I was back in Vancouver, and I moved home in July 2015 and that’s when we started dating. Our grandmothers have known each other since they were young girls, and they are so happy everything has worked out.”
Caroline and JP had such a stunning wedding at Hotel X down by Toronto’s waterfront.
The location has gorgeous natural light from their large windows, and the views of the city and water are vast and quite possibly unmatched!
Here is why they chose Hotel X as their wedding venue:
“We wanted to get married somewhere close to home and after looking at a few other nearby venues, we had a few people recommend checking out Hotel X. It’s about a 7 minute drive from where we live, and when we arrived to see it for the first time, we were stunned by how big, beautiful and brand new it is. We fell in love with the view from the 28th floor (where our ceremony will take place) and loved that the ceremony space also met our criteria of having outdoor space. For me, seeing the Bride’s suite and Groom’s Room which are on the third floor (same as our ballroom) really sealed the deal for me because then I was able to picture myself getting ready in these rooms, getting married on the 28th floor, and celebrating with everyone in the ballroom.”
I had the pleasure of meeting Caroline when she was a bridesmaid for another amazing couple whose wedding I photographed.
When she reached out asking if I’d photograph her wedding I was elated! Caroline is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet! I was honoured to capture these special memories for her and JP.
When I asked why she chose me as her photographer, this is what she said:
“When I met you when I was a bridesmaid for Bridget Benn, I knew that I wanted to use you if you were available when it was my turn! I had so much fun running around the Distillery taking photos in the freezing cold that day with you, and I LOVED Bridget’s engagement and wedding photos. Looking forward to spending my special day with you!”
The day was absolutely breathtaking, start to finish.
Take a look at that stunning floral arch!!
From the couple about their wedding theme: Modern, Elegant, Romantic
“Our wedding theme is modern and elegant. Part of the reason we went with this is because our venue, Hotel X, is such a modern setting. We loved Hotel X for it’s proximity to our home and to Lake Ontario. We’re excited about the fact it’s a new hotel and will be new for many of our guests to see. The main colour in my colour palette is blush, which will be reflected in the florals and the bridesmaids dresses. For a summer wedding, I wanted something light and also I want the flowers to help soften the modern design of the hotel a bit, for a little bit of a romantic feel.”
Words of advice from the newlyweds?
“Find time to relax and unwind together where you can take a break from talking and thinking about wedding planning.”
